Originally developed in Australia, The Bowen Technique is a `hands off, hands on' treatment. The therapist uses her thumbs or fingers in certain points around the body, making rolling type moves over the soft tissue, and in between each set of moves, leaves the room to allow a response to take effect. The moves are gentle and the client should experience little or no pain during treatment. In addition, the therapist requires little in the way of physical effort to be exerted and as such, the Bowen Technique is an ideal alternative to more physically based treatments. A Bowen therapist does not make things happen, but simply allows the body to ask itself what needs to be done. Thus, when healing happens, it is not only often very quick, but also long lasting. Because it is such a gentle technique, it is especially useful where a client is very frail, sick or infirm. This is the first book ever to be published on the Bowen Technique and is fully illustrated with black and white photos and line drawings. 159pp, 189mm x 245mm, illus. in b&w, softback, 2001
