Snow on Snow is a lovely, festive collection of traditional folk songs and carols, with a few poems and stories entwined, to create a great atmosphere from the very first track. It reminds me of the Christmastime concerts and gatherings in the rural community of my childhood: a few musicians - concertina, melodeon, guitars, banjo and percussion - pure voices, songs that you can sing along to within a couple of choruses, and great tunes for having a dance, too. The Albion Christmas Band features the extensive experience and combined talents of Ashley Hutchings, Kellie While, Simon Care and Simon Nicol, whom you may know from the likes of Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span.
