Though we'll admit this book is not much to look at (it's a 1986 reprint of a book first published in 1947), it's one of the best we've read for years, and we'll certainly be reading it a good many times in years to come! Henry Thomas Hamblin wrote it when he was in his 70s and it is, as he says, the story of his lifelong search for Truth. And what a story! We couldn't put it down. His philosophy has a beautiful astringent quality you tend not to find that much today, but we so much need it, don't we? After all, without purification, what are our spiritual glimpses worth? Admittance to the path of liberation is often made to sound cheap these days, free even, but that's only one side of the coin. The other side is...there's a price, and it's a big one. It's everything we've got, in fact. And then some more. Henry Thomas Hamblin was one of those rare individuals who was prepared to pay, with every second of his life, and every atom of his being, for what he loved most - divine Truth. And for that he won the prize, which in reality is there waiting for all of us: a genuine, conscious connection with the Godhead.
