Dear Friends,
I’ve just returned from a weekend in Las Vegas where I was invited to teach at the I Can Do It Conference, an exciting four day event featuring over 26 motivational and new thought authors and speakers from around the world. During that time I had the good fortune to spend some time with many of the conference attendees. Quite a few shared with me that the reason they were there was that they were seeking their heart's desire and yet had the greatest difficulty in discovering what their heart's desire was. Most were quite frustrated and confused because they didn't even know where to begin to find it.
One of the greatest blocks I saw many of these people setting up for themselves was trying to ‘figure out’ what they wanted versus simply listening to their heart. What I've learned in my own life is that I've never found my answers in my head, figuring it out because it isn't my head that creates my heart's desires. My heart does. In fact the only thing I've seen come from trying to figure things is confusion and stress.... especially when I am trying to tune into what is really important to me. So when it comes to naming my heart's desire, I've learned that whatever I do, I should never try to figure it out! Its been far better for me to listen to my heart and to feel my way through it. That's where I always find my answers.
My master teachers taught me that as spiritual beings we create with our feelings, and especially the feelings of genuine caring. So whenever I get stuck I ask myself what I really care about today. What do I love? What makes me laugh? What expands my heart and leaves me filled with joy? What brings me pleasure and satisfaction? What makes me smile and feel alive? Answering these questions connects me to my true desires in the moment and to my spirit as well, who leads me directly to success. I think this can work for you as well.
For example, I spoke with one woman at the conference over lunch and she told me that she was mulling over creating one of three hearts desires. ‘The first,’ she said ‘was creating a marketing company to give people product information on the web.’ When she told me this, her face was flat, her energy low. The second heart's desire, she continued, was to get rid of her ex-husband once and for all. When she shared this, her face turned grey and cloudy and her energy balled up in an angry knot. The third heart's desire, she said finally, was to start a company that offered walking tours through Hong Kong where she lived. When she suggested this, her face lit up like a Christmas tree, she smiled broadly like a kid, and her energy soared and even made me happy. Her energy was so infectious I wanted to be her first client. I voted for the third choice. What do you think?
Another clue I have discovered in creating my heart's desire is to keep my focus on the present. That's because I honestly find it very difficult to genuinely care with any heartfelt energy and enthusiasm about things that are off in the far distant future. I can try, but I know it is my intellect that is trying, and as I said, my intellect has no spark, no creative ‘juice’, no fire to ignite a true creation in me. Don't get me wrong. I like using my brain and I find it an invaluable tool when it comes to supporting my goals and dreams, but it only gets in the way if I try to think my way to what gives me passion.
I find if I stay in my heart and keep my focus on the present I am much more successful. I often ask myself, ‘What do I want to create this year?’ Better yet, ‘this month?’ Even better, ‘this week?’ Or best, ‘what do I want to create today.’ If caring is the secret ingredient to creating your heart's desire, then it only stands to reason that I care far more about today than some vague moment a year from now.
When I am really stuck in figuring out my heart's desires I use this exercise and it always works a miracle. Ask yourself, ‘If I weren't afraid I would ......’ And then fill in the blank. Do this exercise every day for a week and see what surfaces. By the end of the week, if you do this exercise faithfully, I assure you that your heart will be singing and your spirit will be leading you to exactly what you want right now, as it has for me.
The best part I find in creating your heart's desire is that as I seek my heart's desire I attract others who share my enthusiasm. I have even seen it open the hearts of those around me. This is because we affect one another on an energetic and vibrational level at all times. My spiritual teachers have often told me that the best way to serve the planet is to live my heart's desire fully. I've always found that a wonderful assignment. So join me in listening to your heart and living your heart fully. Speak your heart out loud and often and follow your spirit as it answers. Best of all share your success along the way. It will serve us all. Happy Creations!!
Love and blessings, Sonia
