John O’Donohue passed away peacefully in his sleep on 3rd January 2008.
Known and loved by us as the author of Anam Cara, Benedictus and many other beautiful books, he will be sorely missed. More than any other author, his poetic words and deep feeling for the Celtic soul have nurtured in many of us a profound reverence for the spirit in all things. To celebrate his memory – and his new life as a being who can be ‘everywhere’, instead of only ‘somewhere’ – we link here to a wonderful essay he wrote: The Question Holds the Lantern. We think you’ll find it deeply meaningful, particularly at this moment in time.
